Every Canadian Government Newsroom and RSS Feed (Checked 2026)
The official news release pages, RSS feeds and email alerts for the Government of Canada, the PMO, all 10 provinces and the 3 territories, checked in September 2026.
If you work in government relations, you need to know what was announced before someone asks you about it. Canada has 15 places that announcement can come from: the Government of Canada's newsroom, the Prime Minister's Office, 10 provinces and 3 territories. Each one publishes differently.
We checked every one of them in late September 2026. Below are the official newsroom, RSS feed and email subscription for each, plus the quirks that trip people up. Two provinces no longer publish a working RSS feed. One of them still lists its old feeds, which return nothing, so a feed reader will sit there empty without warning you.

Every jurisdiction with a working source also has a live page on Government Radar that shows the latest releases tagged by topic. Start at the government newsrooms hub.
Federal: Government of Canada and the PMO
Every federal department and agency publishes through one system, the Canada.ca news centre. It carries news releases, statements, media advisories, backgrounders, speeches and readouts, and you can filter by department, type, subject, audience and region.
The feed is the useful part. This Atom feed returns the latest 100 items across government:
https://api.io.canada.ca/io-server/gc/news/en/v2?sort=publishedDate&orderBy=desc&pick=100&format=atom
It takes filters. Add &type=newsreleases or &type=statements to cut out media advisories, or &dept=departmentfinance (for example) to follow a single department. Swap /en/ for /fr/ for French. One warning: the feed's own "self" link points to a localhost address, so copy the URL above instead of letting your reader auto-discover it.
If you prefer email, Canada.ca's subscription page sends news releases and statements in three batches a day, at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern.
The Prime Minister's Office runs its own newsroom at pm.gc.ca, with its own feed at https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/rss.xml and an email sign-up. It mixes the PM's daily itinerary in with releases, statements and readouts, so expect volume.

Alberta
Alberta's newsroom covers every ministry. The feed sits at an address that doesn't look like a feed:
https://www.alberta.ca/NewsRoom/newsroom.cfm
It is real RSS (an older 0.91 format with a stylesheet, so it looks like a web page in a browser). The old /NewsRoom/RSS address no longer works, so if your reader went quiet a while back, that is probably why. Alberta also offers news by email, and the full archive is searchable at alberta.ca/announcements.cfm.
British Columbia
BC Gov News publishes releases from the Premier's office and every ministry, with a feed at https://news.gov.bc.ca/feed. Release numbers encode the issuing ministry (the Premier's office uses PREM), which makes it quick to see who is speaking. BC also publishes "stories", which are lower-priority, feature-style items.
Live British Columbia releases →
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan's newsroom lives in the News and Media section of Saskatchewan.ca, with a feed at https://www.saskatchewan.ca/Feeds/NewsFeed.ashx. The feed only holds the latest 20 releases, and routine items like highway construction updates take up a lot of them. We found no official email subscription.
Manitoba
Manitoba's newsroom has a feed at https://news.gov.mb.ca/news/index.rss. Its email subscription is one of the better ones in the country, because you can pick individual departments instead of taking everything.
Ontario
The Ontario Newsroom carries releases, statements, bulletins and backgrounders. The all-news feed is https://news.ontario.ca/newsroom/en/rss/allnews.rss, but it only shows the latest 15 or so items. Ontario publishes enough that items roll off quickly on a busy day. Timestamps are labelled "EST" year-round, so treat them as Eastern local time.
Québec
Québec publishes in French first. The newsroom is Québec.ca Nouvelles, with an English search at quebec.ca/en/news/search. The feed, https://www.quebec.ca/fil-de-presse.rss, carries communiqués and media invitations in French only. Email delivery runs through the Québec government press wire.

New Brunswick
New Brunswick no longer has a working RSS feed. The old feed pages on gnb.ca now return errors. You can still get releases by email through the NB news subscription, which lets you choose departments, though GNB says delivery can take up to about three hours. Otherwise you check the newsroom by hand.
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is the trap. The legacy RSS listing still exists and still lists feeds for all releases and for each department. But when we tested them, they returned an empty document: an XML header and nothing else. A feed reader won't show an error. It will just show nothing, which looks the same as a quiet day. Only the Traffic Advisories feed still updates. The current newsroom is at news.novascotia.ca, and we found no email subscription.
Prince Edward Island
PEI publishes at princeedwardisland.ca/en/news, with a feed at https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/news/top-news.xml. The site sits behind a firewall that can block some automated readers, so if your feed reader gets errors, try it in a browser first.
Newfoundland and Labrador
Releases are at gov.nl.ca/releases with a feed at https://www.gov.nl.ca/releases/feed/ (French at /releases/fr/feed/). That feed carries only the latest 10 items, so check it often. The older feeds at releases.gov.nl.ca are still online but empty. Release URLs include a department code, so you can see who issued a release from the link alone.

The territories
All three territories publish news releases, but none currently makes it easy to monitor them automatically.
- Yukon: yukon.ca/en/news. A feed has been listed at yukon.ca/rss, but the site's bot protection blocked every attempt to confirm it.
- Northwest Territories: the GNWT newsroom has search and year filters, but we found no feed or email list.
- Nunavut: the GN newsroom says an RSS feed is available, but doesn't publish the address anywhere we could find.
That is why Government Radar doesn't cover the territories yet. We'll add them once there is a reliable source to read.
Why a feed reader alone isn't enough
You could put all of the working feeds above into a feed reader and be mostly covered. But three things will catch you.
First, the gaps. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have no working feed, and Nova Scotia's broken feeds fail silently. Second, the short feeds. Saskatchewan, Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador only keep the latest 10 to 20 items, so a slow check on a busy day misses things. Third, volume. Ottawa alone puts out dozens of items on a normal weekday, a large share of them media advisories and regional funding announcements. Filtering that by hand is the actual job.
That is the problem Government Radar was built to solve. It reads all 11 sources every morning, including the ones without feeds, tags each release by topic and sends you one email with only the jurisdictions, topics and keywords you follow. If you'd rather build your own setup, the links above are everything you need.
